About Me
My name is Dr. Makar Kutty. I was born in Aroor, a small village in the Alleppey district of Kerala, India, into a family deeply rooted in Ayurveda. My father, Vaidyakalanidhi K.K. Ahamed Vaidyan (1918-1991), was an esteemed Ayurvedic doctor and a scholar in Hindu mythology, Ayurveda, Yoga, Astrology, and Vaastu. He was proficient in ancient languages such as Sanskrit and Arabic and graduated from H.H. Maharaja’s Ayurveda College, Trivandrum, Kerala, in 1944.
That same year, he established his own clinic, “Vaidyashaala,” with a focus on delivering effective Ayurvedic treatments. He developed unique techniques and methods that were distinct from those of other practitioners. As a child, I had the privilege of observing my father’s work closely, which ignited my passion for Ayurveda. My early exposure to various Ayurvedic treatments and medicine preparation methods was invaluable.
My father also emphasized the importance of yoga, which became a daily practice for me. After completing my schooling, I pursued a B.A.M.S. degree in Ayurveda at Government Ayurveda College, Tripunithura, Kerala, which took 5.5 years to complete. My internships included Government Ayurveda College, Tripunithura, Government Ayurveda Mental Hospital, Kottakal, Government Ayurveda College, Trivandrum, and General Hospital, Ernakulam.
Following my education, I worked in a multi-specialty Ayurveda hospital in North Kerala before gaining experience at various Ayurvedic resorts across Kerala, interacting with patients from Europe and other western countries. To enhance the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatments, I trained in yoga at Sivanada Yoga Vedanta Dhanvantari Ashram, Neyyar Dam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and earned a Y.T.T.C (Yogasiromani) Yoga Trainer diploma.
I also completed a Vaastu course and received a diploma from Disha Institute of Vaastu, Delhi. Over the past 28 years, I have worked in prominent Ayurveda centers and resorts in Kerala, including Coconut Lagoon Kumarakom, Ashtamudi Resorts Kollam, Kayaloram Lake Resort Alleppey, Rahim Residency Beach Resort Alleppey. My international experience includes a year at a health resort in South Ari Atoll, Maldives, and positions in Yekaterinburg, Russia (2005-2014), and Truskavets, Ukraine (2015). From 2016 to 2020, I was with Estuary Island Resort in Poovar, Trivandrum. Since 2022 I am working at Kadaltheeram Beach Resort in Varkala Kerala.
